Remains of teen missing since 2011 found

- ARTHUR WHITE-CRUMMEY

The family of Cody Ridge Wolfe has confirmed that his remains were found last week, putting an end to nine years of searching for the missing teen.

Wolfe was 17 years old when he disappeared on April 29, 2011. He was last seen on the Muskowekwan First Nation near Lestock, about 100 kilometres northeast of Regina.

His aunt, Myrna Laplante, confirmed a report Wolfe’s sister Amber posted to Facebook on Wednesday afternoon. Amber Wolfe wrote that the news was “not the ending I was hoping for, but the wondering has now come to an end.”

Laplante said Wolfe’s remains were found Thursday, May 7. She said the family is processing the news with “mixed emotions.”

Cody Ridge Wolfe was last seen leaving his grandmother’s home, walking to a friend’s place.

He sent text messages that night describing a washed out road on the Muskowekwan First Nation he was walking down, asking for directions on how to get to his destination. He was not heard from after that.

Foul play was never suspected in the case that saw hundreds of hours of searches conducted in the area.

RCMP divers searched a slough in the area but found nothing in the weeks after Wolfe disappeared.

“I’d like to thank Lloyd Goodwill and the search team from (Carry the Kettle) who has helped us for so many years and people from surrounding reserves and Muskowekwan who took the time to come and help search over the 9 years,” Amber Wolfe wrote on Facebook.

“Kim Cooper and her team, Punnichy Police and also Major crimes for also joining and helping search for my brother Cody. For anyone else who has helped my family in searching Thank you. It does mean a lot to us.”
