THE CITY BEAT

-

With Father’s Day coming, there’s a chance to give a special musical gift and support the Regina Food Bank.

Pipers and drummers from The City of Regina Pipe Band and Conservatory Pipe Band will visit dad’s residence and perform a five-minute, driveway/front lawn concert. Decked out in kilts and uniform, pipers and drummers will perform two to three tunes from a safe social distance and only outside. All funds raised will be donated to the Regina Food Bank. Online booking at www.reginabagpipes.com

Regina’s Queen City United Soccer Club (QC) is calling on all sport organizations across the city to rally their athletes to support the Regina Food Bank on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A one-way drive through will be set up at the QC Facility, at 1560A Mcdonald St., to allow for safe social distancing and easy donation drop off. Donations must be preloaded into paper or plastic bags, and volunteers will have bins to allow for easy drop off of food items without having to leave vehicles. The Food Bank is also in need of cash donations. Cheques made out to the Regina Food Bank (no cash will be accepted), can also be dropped off into a secure collection box.

The Food Bank has asked for donations of pasta, tomato sauce or canned vegetables and/or cheques.

With the reopening of SARCAN depots, there’s a new opportunity to donate to Regina Crime Stoppers.

The organization is encouraging people to tag their bottle returns with “Crime Stoppers” at the Stop and Go kiosks, to donate the proceeds. Regina Crime Stoppers receives no direct government or city funding.

For the month of June, Pet Valu is raising funds and collecting supplies to help Bright Eyes Dog Rescue since most of the group’s fundraising events have been cancelled due to COVID-19.

Each time a customer purchases select cat and dog food, treats and flea and tick protection at Pet Valu, $1 from the purchase of each qualifying product will be donated to Bright Eyes Dog Rescue.
