Sandal season

Even if we’re not yet booking vacations to far-flung, tropical locales, it’s definitely time to get our toes out. From luxe sporty styles to trusted, wear-everywhere flats, Rebecca Tay discovers five pairs of sandals to slip your feet into this summer.

CRYSTAL CLEAR

Did you know that Call it Spring made the switch to offering 100 per cent vegan shoes last year? The brand, which is part of the Aldo Group, specializes in fashion-forward, affordable footwear, such as these ‘Ajana’ silver sandals, which feature a rhinestone-encrusted strap — perfect for when you need a bit of sparkle.

GOING DOTTY

We’re a fan of flat sandals that straddle the line between being chic and sophisticated, yet practical for everyday wear. Enter these mesh slides, which feature cute, flocked polka dots; team them with everything from poofy skirts to denim cutoffs.

SPORTS DAY

There are plenty of designer takes on canvas webbed sports sandals (in fact, we’re partial to the Prada ones), but for a simple, chic take on the trend, there’s nothing like the original — the Original Universal sandal by Teva. We love the cool pastel hues and ’90s-inspired print. Urban Outfitters, urbanoutfitters.com | $70

IN KNOTS

If you’ve got enough black, brown and tan sandals in your wardrobe, consider these bow-tie slides by Jil Sander. Made in Italy, their simple shape and burgundy hue are surprisingly versatile (try wearing the hue from head to toe for a fashion-forward look), while their super-soft nappa leather makes them a premium, ultra-luxe choice.

Holt Renfrew, holtrenfrew.com | $690

BABY BLUE

Ugg released its first version of these fluffy sandals last summer, and they were quickly seen on every celebrity and model off-duty, from Margot Robbie to Bella and Gigi Hadid. This summer, they’ve taken things a step further and released platform, rainbow versions for Pride — though for day to day wear, this ‘Oh Yeah’ version, which comes in nine colours, is a bit more, erm, practical.

Ugg, ugg.com/ca | $125
