Dr. Eusebio Legarda Koh, Professor Emeritus, engineer, mathematic­ian, poet, author, community leader, Knight of Columbus, friend, spouse, father, and Lolo has passed away. Seb was born in the Philippine­s on October 4,

1931 and passed away peacefully on September 17, 2022. Seb attended the University of the Philippine­s (UP) where he obtained the first of four degrees; a B.SC. (cum laude) in Mechanical Engineerin­g, Master’s degrees from Purdue University and the University of Birmingham (UK) and his PH.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Seb rose from an instructor to the Department Head of Mechanical Engineerin­g at UP. He became an assistant prof of math at the University of South Carolina in 1967 but racism quickly drove him to University of Regina. From 1968 - 1999, he taught math

at the U of R where he became known as “Killer Koh”. He received many academic awards, published over 60 research articles and presented over 30 papers. Seb retired in 1999 and was granted Professor Emeritus soon after. Seb was co-founder and first president of the Philippine Associatio­n of Saskatchew­an (PAS) and was a Filipino Journal columnist writing “Counterpoi­nt” his regular article. He was the Charter Grand Knight of the Santo Nino Council (12415) of the Knights of Columbus in Regina. Seb was a prolific creative writer authoring two books “Like the Mimosa” (2007) and “Autumn Wind” (2010). In 2004, Filipino-american Image awarded him as “one of the Twenty Outstandin­g Filipino Americans” (TOFA). In 2019, he was awarded “Man of the Year” by PAS. Mahjong, chess, Sudokus and cryptic crosswords were favourite pastimes. In younger years, tennis and golf were faves. Ever the people-person, Seb would eagerly host/emcee events and often talk with strangers: asking their names, spelling, then chat in that person’s language. “Pilipino ka ba?” “Sprechen sie Deutsch?” “Assalamu Alaikum!” Seb will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Eusebio is survived by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 64 years, Donelita, their four daughters Monette, Beth (Mark), Ethel, and Denise (Kris) and the pride and joy of his life, his grandchild­ren Jason, Kevin, Emily, Melina, Aidan, Noah, Emmett, Anna, Amanda, Pepper, Viardo and Dominik.family and friends are invited to leave tributes at www.reginafune­ralhome.ca Arrangemen­ts entrusted to
