FOR DREAMERS ONLY
A Midsummer’s Night Dream meets Dangerous Liaisons meets Little Red Riding Hood—(the hood was black in this case)—would be a fitting description for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s haute couture debut for Dior. The Musée Rodin in Paris was transformed into a plush enchanted garden as the backdrop for this romantic first outing. The collection echoed the magical atmosphere, complete with masks, dramatic capes, and botanical embellishments. One could say this collection was a counter-response to the slew of designers who have started to cater to millennial fashion lovers. But there was no minimalism on view here. Chiuri wants us to get lost in the grandeur of haute couture and to continue to dream.
