Denny pleads not guilty to assaulting MacIntosh
Scott Russell Denny pleaded not guilty to assaulting Myles MacIntosh before MacIntosh disappeared, presumed drowned in the South Saskatchewan River.
Denny’s lawyer, Brian Pfefferle, said his client is prepared to set trial dates in Saskatoon provincial court on the aggravated assault charge.
But the Crown says it requires time to coordinate the large list of witnesses.
Police have said Denny, 33, assaulted MacIntosh on a pub-crawl bus on Feb. 1 after MacIntosh was kicked out of a bar during his bachelor party, and that MacIntosh then got off the bus near the intersection of Lorne Avenue and Eighth Street.
A man reportedly fell into the river nearby around the same time MacIntosh left the bus.
MacIntosh’s blood was found on the river ice during a search the following day.
Denny is in custody after his bail application was denied last week. He is scheduled to return to court March 21.
