Huskies reflect on historic final

-

The Huskies qualified to play in the national championship after winning a Canada West final series that will go down in Huskie lore. Here are some Huskie reflections on that series that saw all three games go into multiple overtime periods at Rutherford Rink, including the longest game in Canada West hockey history.

■ “After it was all said and done, it was amazing. But during it, I can’t even describe, it was so tiring. On Saturday in our four overtimes, it was at that point where you couldn’t really give a full effort –- you’re giving it your all, but you can’t do the things you want to do.” –Rookie forward Kaitlin Willoughby

■ “No I’ve never seen anything like that before. You know, maybe one game, but not the whole series the way that it was. We had players go off and get stitches and come back and jump into the play. We had players

DON RICE go out and get some injuries frozen so that they can come back out to play. It’s those things that you remember that makes it so special.” – Head coach Steve Kook

■ “Honestly in the warm-up of the third game I felt my legs are so tired, how am I even going to play the game? But then, somehow during the game, I got my legs. Everyone, I think, was the same, we just found energy within and just kept going because we had to.” – Fifth-year captain Cami Wooster

Twitter buzz around series

Sara Greschner (@SaraGreschner): “Well I can check getting stitches done during a game and going back out off my bucket list.”

Tweet about Kandace Cook: “And what about this kid @KCooker21? Guts out two games (well 4 with OTs) with a partially separated shoulder.”

Kennedy Harris (@kennedyharris11): “That was the best weekend of my life.”
