HERE WE GO AGAIN

-

The city was unable to deal last year with the snow and ice buildup. This year it can’t cope with water main breaks.

Other cities in Canada just soldier on and deal with the issues, but this outfit refuses to do anything but cry for more tax dollars and then drops the level of services to the taxpaying public.

My back alley was unusable last year from Easter till the spring melt was over. The city couldn’t find a grader or the money to run it to clear the alley. Fast forward a year and people are waiting days and days for repair work to water mains.

I live on Preston Avenue, and we are currently on Day 5 without water. The city only has four potable water trailers, so we have yet to see one. No one at city hall is bright enough to think that perhaps the tanks, which aren’t pegged down 24-7, could be circulated around through the day, thus giving all who need it a chance at water.

Another tax hike is in plain sight, people. And then who knows what — a dandelion picking tax? A chasing coyotes and moose out of town tax?

This culture of incompetence, arrogance and lack of respect for taxpayers and tax dollars is a shame and must change. The next election would be a good start to run a deep and wide swath through city hall and bring in new people with a better attitude toward the people they serve. Russell Altman Saskatoon
