PARKING AVAILABLE

Re: Fight city hall (SP, June 12). I was sorry to read about the unhappy experience of a driver who received a ticket at a 90-minute meter while watching a movie at Galaxy Cinema.

Unfortunately, this was a case of wrong place, wrong time. Fortunately, there are many parking spots near the theatre that allow parking for longer than 90 minutes — long enough to park for a movie or play. For example, the meters on Second Avenue south of 20th Street allow up to three hours of parking, and meters on 19th Street allow up to two hours.

There are also off-street pay lots across 20th Street from the theatre with no time limit. Meanwhile, street parking is free everywhere downtown after 6 p.m. each night. On-street parking is also free on Sundays.

We are always happy to hear ideas for how to make our downtown even better. Brent Penner Executive Director The Partnership
