Four Crown CEOs’ pay topped $400,000 in 2013
The Saskatchewan government released its annual report on the salaries of Crown corporation CEOs and other employees, revealing pay increases for many of the top executives.
The 2013 Payee Disclosure Report from the Crown Investments Corporation (CIC) details salaries and travel expenses of CIC and other Crown corporation employees making more than $50,000. It includes other expenses such as donations and sponsorships, and the names of suppliers receiving more than $50,000.
SaskTel president and CEO Ron Styles topped the list again with a salary of $499,492 in 2013, plus travel expenses of $16,874. In 2012, Styles earned $444,002.
Thirteen other SaskTel executives and senior managers received salaries between $205,012 and $370,170.
Four Crown CEOs topped the $400,000 mark in 2013 — twice as many as the previous year.
SaskPower president and CEO Robert Watson made $482,003 last year and claimed $45,261 in travel expenses. In 2012, he made $451,115.
Last year, the salary of Saskatchewan Government Insurance president and CEO Andrew Cartmell hit $432,003, up from $355,244 in 2012; he claimed $34,936 for travel. SaskEnergy president and CEO Doug Kelln made $410,156, up from $398,255 in 2012, with $12,059 in travel expenses.
OTHER EXECUTIVE SALARIES IN 2013:
■ Twelve other SaskPower executives and senior managers earned salaries between $ 276,986 and $350,238. ■ Eight other SaskEnergy executives and senior managers earned salaries between $ 102,821 and $342,211. ■ Eleven other SGI executives and senior managers earned salaries between $195,743 and $358,331. ■ CIC CEO Dick Carter earned $391,677 and claimed $1,073 for travel. Eight other executives and senior managers made between $89,573 and $340,148. ■ Saskatchewan Water Corporation president Doug Matthies made $266,509 and claimed $1,235 for travel. Two other executives earned $176,885 and $176,758. ■ Information Services Corporation CEO Jeff Stusek made $162,074 while claiming $2,786 for travel. Sixteen other executives and senior managers or employees made between $58,678 and $ 138,378. Those numbers only cover the period up to July 2013, when the Crown corporation was privatized. ■ Saskatchewan Transportation Corporation president and CEO Shawn Grice made $227,375 and claimed $1,774 for travel. Seven other executives and senior managers earned between $77,448 and $188,336. ■ Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation president CEO Twyla Meredith made $247,145 and claimed $6,319 for travel. Five other executives and senior managers made between $174,716 and $220,791. ■ Former Saskatchewan Opportunities Corporation president and CEO Doug Tastad earned $245,171 and made no travel claims. Twelve other executives and senior managers made between $74,678 and $183,574.
