BACKWARD THINKING ON TRANSIT
The SP article about the lack of parking spaces downtown showed a prime example of the City of Saskatoon’s backward thinking.
Instead of improving public/rapid transit and alternative forms of travel, it’s willing to spend $200,000 on planning for parking.
What is needed is a highly efficient public transportation system that operates day and night, or at the very least, daytime public transit between satellite towns and cities. This would eliminate the need to expand parking and would also extend the life of the roadways.
Knowing where the heads are at city hall, this is unlikely to happen. Margaret Fehr Martensville
