Superb design shines in STARS home
Golf course views among many features
Into its third year in Saskatchewan, the STARS program serves a vital need providing air ambulance service in the province. The STARS Home Lottery fills an essential role in supporting the STARS program.
“In Saskatchewan we’re essentially partners with the provincial government. In 2013 we flew 821 missions to over 200 communities in the province, and this lottery goes a long way to keep us in the air,” said Rod Gantefoer, executive vice president.
Located in Greenbryre, a prime golf community, the lottery home is a three bedroom, three bath walkout bungalow with more than 3,100 square feet of spectacular living space that comes fully furnished and custom landscaped. D & S Homes has partnered with STARS to build its lottery homes since Day 1.
“D & S has done just a great job for us in all three of our homes, they’ve been quite unique,” said Gantefoer.
Duane Slater, founder and president of D & S Homes, said they’re gratified just knowing they’re supporting a great cause that helps people stay alive. “The bottom line is, it saves lives and it’s a good thing for our province.”
The home’s superbly designed main floor has an easy flow through the living area, with hardwood or tile flooring throughout.
Soft close cabinets also have lighting over the islandbar seating. Off the kitchen is main floor laundry and an extra-large custom built pantry.
The home offers the latest in automation with the Crestron system. “It operates your heating and cooling, all your lighting, all your sound system with its different zones, etc. It’s more of a smart home and at $85,000, it’s a very expensive system,” said Slater.
Two large decks offer beautiful views of the golf course. The upper deck is accessed from the dining room as well as the master bedroom. The spa-like master ensuite has a large double shower and double undermount sinks, granite countertops and a soaker tub.
One of the unique features of the home is a portion of the basement has been left unfinished. “It allows you to customize. D & S will make the area a bedroom or a hobby room, an exercise room, an office or whatever the winner wants,” said Gantefoer.
The professionals who run the STARS missions are highly trained. “Our pilots have a great many hours of experience flying and the helicopters have two engines for safety. On every mission we have two pilots flying them, and we have a two-person medical crew as a minimum in the back,” Gantefoer said.
The home lottery goes a long way toward keeping STARS in the sky. There’s over $4 million in total prize value and 2104 prizes which includes the two homes (the other being in Regina), 15 vacations, five vehicles and a 50/50 draw. Tickets are $60 each, two for $100 or six for $250. For tickets call 855.449.2444. The STARS lottery show home at 441 Greenbryre Lane is open 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday to Thursday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. weekends and holidays and is closed Fridays.
