ACCEPTS ANY CHALLENGE (WITH HUMOUR)
Dear Editor, It’s about time! Yes, it’s about time that Bill Peterson was publicly recognized for his outstanding leadership and commitment to our community.
To list all of the projects, events, campaigns and initiatives that Bill has led would take more space than any editor would be willing to give me, and I would probably still not be able to capture all the things he’s been involved with. Over the years, he has also worked tirelessly behind the scenes strategizing, connecting and coaching, helping people and organizations find solutions and achieve goals.
Bill has never been dissuaded by a challenge. On the contrary, when individuals, corporations
“It is through his kindness of spirit and great pride that I – an admitted dyed-in-the-wool Torontonian – have had a spectacular Saskatchewan experience.”
or community-based organizations have called upon him for advice or assistance, regardless of how complex or even impossible the situation may be, there is never any hesitation. He sees potential in everyone and opportunity in everything. When there has been work to be done in the community, Bill steps up, often going above and beyond, without anyone even knowing about it.
“Intelligent, loyal and determined, Bill shares some of the characteristics of his beloved Jack Russell Terrier breed.”
One thing most of the ‘friends of Bill’s’ can attest to is that he always maintains a sense of humour, even in the most trying of times. I can say that during some of my most difficult moments, it has been banter with Bill that gave me perspective and brought tears of laughter to both of us.
And Bill’s great sense of humour is present even in the most unusual, if not bizarre situations - from frightening mid-air flight incidents to misadventures with dogs.
And speaking of dogs, someone once said, “You can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats his dog” and in Bill’s case, I think that pretty much says it all.
Bill, congratulations on being recognized by the United Way of Saskatoon & Area for your extraordinary contributions to our community – well done!
