The Meadows Parade of Homes

Five builders display their best work

- HILARY KLASSEN

Today, a new parade of homes in The Meadows of Saskatoon will launch with a bang. Some of the best builders in the province have partnered together for this summer-of-2015 parade. Arbutus Properties, Lexis Homes, Maison Fine Homes, Montana Homes and North Prairie Developments have all put their finest on display. “We’re going to run the parade of homes through the summer and probably into September or October,” said Jeffrey Drexel, president of Arbutus Properties.

With free food and entertainment, The Meadows Parade of Homes Grand Opening will feel more like a street party.

People who visit the Parade of Homes today will be treated to free food and entertainment. Codie Prevost will be on-site to perform a free concert as you roam through the Parade of Homes on Eaton Crescent.

Codie Prevost, Saskatchewan’s own award-winning country crooner, will be onsite to do a free concert.

For added fun, people who visit the parade can cast a vote for their favourite home as the five builders go head-to-head to compete in the Ultimate Show Home Challenge. Your vote gives you a chance to win a oneyear lease on a Ford F150 4x4 Platinum.

Parade of Homes participant Montana Homes recently won several Bridges builder awards, including Best Townhouse Development up to 50 units and Best Production Home. Their showhome at 238 Eaton Cres. features the Delta plan with 1,501 square feet of living space. Custom maple cabinets with crown moulding, granite countertops, upgraded laminate floors and nine-foot ceilings on the main floor are some of the attractive qualities of this home.

“Standard Montana Homes’ finishes include upgraded lighting packages, custom maple cabinets, dual-glaze casement-style windows, R50 insulation in the attic and a 50-gallon hot water tank,” says Kal Hourd, sales manager.

To ease concerns about basement flooding, Montana uses a protective waterproof membrane on the foundation called Superpro Coatings which functions like a rubber boot around the house and comes with a 10year warranty.

This property and two neighbouring properties by Montana are completed and suite ready. A fourth property is what they call a ‘quick possession’ home. It’s completed to drywall stage, allowing the buyer to customize finishes without shouldering full responsibility for a fully custom home. Once selections are made, the home is ready in 60 days.

Montana’s Rosewood showhome is available for $394,900. It comes with Hardie siding, a fully-landscaped front yard and a 20-by-20-foot concrete pad for a garage in the back.

Developer Arbutus has designed the community with a more traditional feel that emphasizes front-porch living, more street activity and easy walkability.

“A new commercial zone was approved for the far southwest corner, a new park and a new Rosewood school are coming in,” said Drexel.

The Meadows Parade of Homes, located from 238 to 247 Eaton Cres., may be viewed Monday to Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., weekends and holidays from 1 to 5 p.m. They’re closed Fridays. Follow the signs to today’s Parade of Homes launch on Eaton Crescent next to the parade. Visit meadowsliving. ca for more information.

FOR ADDED FUN, PEOPLE WHO VISIT THE PARADE CAN CAST A VOTE FOR THEIR FAVOURITE HOME AS THE FIVE BUILDERS GO HEAD-TO-HEAD TO COMPETE IN THE ULTIMATE SHOW HOME CHALLENGE. YOUR VOTE GIVES YOU A CHANCE TO WIN A ONE-YEAR LEASE ON A FORD F150 4X4 PLATINUM.
