THE GREATEST SHOW IN THE WORLD

You’re seeing correctly. You’re not dreaming. Reveen is back. Ty Reveen, to be precise — son of the legendary “impossibilist” who spent more than three decades touring practically non-stop with his hypnosis show. Peter Reveen died in 2013 but not before m

Sing along now: “The man they call-all Reveen.” If you grew up in the ’60s and ’70s, you saw and heard countless repetitions of the commercials that heralded the great one’s arrival in your town. “That was one of the greatest jingles in Canadian history,” says Ty Reveen, 58, a resident of New Brunswick. He says the brilliant Seattle DJ Jerry Gawne put the ad together and did the voiceover.

“He had this magnificent voice. I just had the pleasure of meeting up with him not even a year ago. He came to see the show when we sold out the River Rock Casino.”

PREDESTINY

“My father kind of planted the seed. At the age of five years old he said one day you’ll be doing this show. Every time I watched him I imagined myself up there.” Ty worked for his dad for 30 years, starting at $10 a week in 1971.

AUTHENTICITY

“Every show people come back and say it was like watching your father,” says Ty. At a meet-andgreet in Halifax, “This woman came up crying, she said I just watched your father for the last two hours. Everything you did was like you transformed.”

NO LIMITS

“The thing that really holds people back is our negative, selfconscious feelings,” says Ty. “We surrender to being complacent and hiding in our little cubby hole and making as few waves as possible. This show is focused on people overcoming nervous tension and fear. It is impossible for your mind to refuse to acknowledge self- induced suggestion.

THE AUDITION

In 2011, Ty did a three-day, 20-hour audition for his father to prove he had the superconscious chops. At the end, Reveen Sr. posed a further challenge. “After it was over, he’d arranged for me to perform in front of 200 of the world’s greatest magicians in this packed out little theatre in Las Vegas.”

LOFTY STANDARDS

“This new Reveen show had to be the best show of its kind in the world before I stepped on stage,” says Ty. “It had to live up to the expectations of the most zealous of Reveen patrons. And it had to stay true to certain principals that it remain a family-friendly journey for people of all ages.”

THE PITCH

“It’s the kind of show you go see, you take your family and everyone in your family. If you have a four-year-old, and a 12-yearold and a 19-year-old, they’re all going to love it equally and they’re going to learn something, that they have the ability to do anything they want to in life. That’s what makes it the greatest show in the world.
