Blind allegiance to Tory ideology

-

The Brad Wall government is so blinded by the Conservative ideology that, rather than deviate from that ideology, it would rather destroy Saskatchewan and its people by its horrible mismanagement of the province’s finances.

I do not like paying taxes any more than the next person. However, neither am I so stupid as to think that destroying the education and health care systems and laying off hundreds of civil servants is the answer.

Yet, that is the answer at which Wall’s government has arrived at. The Wall government has squandered, arguably, the best economic years Saskatchewan has ever experienced, and now has racked up a deficit which is reported to be around $1.2 billion.

The provincial deficit could be erased by as little as a one per cent increase in the sales tax and/or a small hike in the corporate tax. Neither of these suggestions are pleasant, but they are far better than gutting education and health care and firing our neighbours and friends. Thomas D. Powell, Saskatoon
