MARTIN BALKS AT RULE CHANGES
Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin joked that if he meets up with a strange accident, the media should look into it.
Martin had just finished railing against Major League Baseball’s plans to speed up the pace of the game and increase offence by doing things such as raising the bottom of the strike zone and making intentional walks automatic.
“It would just be nice for them to be to honest, because they keep saying it’s for the fans,” Martin said. “But fans like the game.”
Martin also said eliminating catcher trips to the mound could leave pitchers without enough time to warm up. “How about we just give guys, the human being, time to warm up?” Martin said.
