Two more people are charged with first-degree murder in the October 2016 shooting death of Dylan Phillips in Saskatoon.

An 18-year-old woman and 25-year-old man were arrested Wednesday and charged in the Oct. 14, 2016 shooting.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on March 22 and appeared in Saskatoon provincial court last Friday. In addition to the first-degree murder charge, each of the accused is also charged with committing murder for the benefit of a criminal organization and two counts of assault with a weapon “stemming from the same incident on two other people,” according to a police news release.

The man and woman were scheduled to appear Thursday in Saskatoon provincial court. According to Saskatoon police spokeswoman Alyson Edwards, both were already in custody on unrelated charges at different correctional facilities at the time of their arrests. Edwards said police are not seeking any other suspects.

Dylan Edward Robert Phillips, 26, died from a gunshot wound on Oct. 14, 2016 at his home in the 1400 block of Avenue G North.

Police initially responded around 10:50 p.m. to a report about a man injured in an assault. At the home, officers and paramedics found the 26-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Phillips died at the scene.

It was the city’s 10th homicide of 2016.

The 15-year-old, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was taken back into custody after his court appearance and is scheduled to return to court April 3.

According to public documents from the youth’s court appearance last week, the alleged assault victims are Jan and Dale Phillips — identified in Dylan Phillips’ Oct. 21, 2016 obituary as his parents. The youth is accused of assaulting Jan Phillips with a gun and Dale Phillips with a fence board.

According to Dylan Phillips’ obituary, he was born and raised in Saskatoon and graduated from Bishop Mahoney High School. He was active in sports ranging from hockey to fencing, snowboarding to mountain biking. He also had a “love and passion for animals,” so much so that in lieu of flowers following his death, his family suggested donations be made to the SPCA.

Each of the accused is also charged with committing murder for the benefit of a criminal organization.
