Government blames public sector

-

It appears that Sask Party MLAs are seated in a big glass house casting stones at public sector workers. This is quite convenient as they hide behind government appointed bargaining agents. Our government continues to bargain through the media in an effort to create a divide among the people.

Unions are hardly to blame for the current deficit. Nor are their cuts an attempt to deal with it; rather, they are intended to cover the cost (over $65 million) of added corporate tax relief announced in the recent mean-spirited budget.

Health care workers are trained to the highest standard by education institutions and the employer. In health care, we have already experienced the degradation of these standards when laundry services were privatized. We know that privatization is a huge mistake and will cost the province dearly. Standards will deteriorate and access to care will be limited in all communities. What has failed in Alberta couldn’t possibly work here. It’s time to listen to the people of Saskatchewan and quit messing with our public services.

Remember the Sask Party promise to ‘Keep Saskatchewan Strong’? This cannot be accomplished by taking back pay increases from as far back as 2015 in order to supply tax relief to corporations.

Governments need to meet with public sector union leaders and members ... the very ones that they’re hell bent on destroying. Rather than bargaining through the media, come sit at these tables and learn what we do. Please leave the stones at home.
