5 WAYS TO FILL YOUR WEEKEND

The final weekend of August is here but that doesn’t mean the fun has stopped. Here are some things to do:

-

1 Everyone likes Frisbee! The Canadian Ultimate Championship Mixed event goes this weekend at the SaskTel Soccer Centre area in the city’s northeast corner. It’s a fun and growing sport not only locally, but across Canada and internationally. It’s worth watching.

2 Here’s something for all ages. A corn maze has opened at the Saskatoon Italian Cultural & Recreational Centre at the corner of Cedar Villa Road and Highway 7. It’s open Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. Cost is $8-$10 depending on age.

3 Saskatoon residents are encouraged to participate in the Meewasin/Trans Canada Trail celebration. Run, pedal, roll or walk the Meewasin Trail link to the Great Trail, which runs Saturday.

4 Want to take a look at a new area of the city and have a chance to rub shoulder with some pro football players? Dream, in association with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, is bringing back its popular Fundamentals of Football for the season. Lots of activities planned starting at 1 p.m. Brighton is on the east end of the city off Highway 5.

5 Just a few days after the solar eclipse, why not visit the observatory on Saturday evening at the U of S campus. It’s free on Saturday nights so that any visitor may view celestial objects through the telescope.
