Country Music Week takes hold at TCU Place
Shine up your cowboy boots because the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) brings six intimate shows to TCU Place September 7th to 10th. Kicking things off on Thursday, Sept. 7 is the CCMA
Songwriters’ Series. This marquee series celebrates the crafting of original songs and the stories behind the words. The three-day, acoustic performance is sure to inspire all who attend. Sessions happen September 7, 8 and 9. Check tcutickets.ca for a list of performers and set times.
Discover the “next big thing ” in country music, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. The six finalists of the CCMA Discovery Program – a national initiative to support emerging Canadian country artists – will come together one last time for the CCMA Discovery Showcase Join in the excitement as each finalist performs separately, vying for the attention of a secret panel of judges to decide who will be 2017’s CCMA Discovery Award winner.
Next up is the CCMA Legends Show: A Tribute to Yesterday and Today, Sept. 8. This once-in-a-lifetime event pays tribute to country hits of the past and present by pairing Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame inductees with rising and current hitmakers in the industry. The star-studded show, taking place at Saskatoon’s Sid Buckwold Theatre at TCU Place, will feature Paul Brandt, Lisa Brokop, Hunter Brothers, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Madeline Merlo and the legendary Ian Tyson. Other acts include Patricia Conroy, Malory Johnson, Jimmy Rankin, and The Washboard Union.

This special event features masterclass songwriters in a guitar pull setting. Notable songwriters from Canada and the U.S. will share the stories behind country music’s biggest hits.
