5 WAYS TO FILL YOUR WEEKEND
September is almost over, and October is on our doorstep. Let’s look at a few things to keep us occupied as we go from one month to the next ...
1 Army open house
The Canadian Army Reserves is holding an open house on Saturday at the Sgt. Hugh Cairns VC Armoury from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Watch our troops do tactical demonstrations, have a look at some weapons displays. You can even sample some rations. More than anything, you can walk away with a better understanding of how our military works. You’ll find the armoury at 930 Idylwyld Drive North.
2 Dreaming with Elvis
Need an Elvis fix? Head to the Broadway Theatre tonight at 7:30 for Elvis: If I Can Dream. Endorsed by Elvis Presley Enterprises and Graceland USA, Mark Anthony’s big voice will take you back in time.
3 Fall Fest fun
Here’s a great way to enjoy the arrival of fall. The Glen at Crossmount, just five kilometres south of the city on Highway 219, has all sorts of activities planned in its third annual Fall Fest. If you haven’t been out to Crossmount yet, this is a great opportunity to see what’s going on there.
4 Premier showcase
The annual Premier Showcase goes tonight and Saturday night at TCU Place. Presented by Co-op Wine-Spirits-Beer, you’ll have the chance to sample some of the finest liquor products available. Tickets are still available for the event, which runs from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
5 Globetrotters treat
This is a classic that never gets old. The Harlem Globetrotters are in town on Sunday at SaskTel Centre. These basketball wizards are just as funny as they are good. It’s definitely an allages event. Globetrotter Handles Franklin was in town recently to promote their stop in Saskatoon. He got a chance to try his hand at a sport he’s never tried before — curling.
