CONTEMPORARY ELEGANCE
Stunning $1 million home showcases sensible functionality for everyday living
There’s no mistaking that the show home at 140 Greenbryre Lane is a bit of a departure for D&S Homes.
The company has created a showpiece for contemporary, yet functional, design.
The exterior features a low pitch roofline and a mix of exterior finishes — grey-toned stucco, cream stone accents and composite wood panels in a rustic colour. As well, the walkway leading to the front entrance got a different treatment, with inserts of faux grass strips adding to the visual interest.
D&S Homes chose some fantastic light fixtures in almost every room of the house. The first greets you as you enter, treating you to an open staircase to the upper floor that showcases a chandelier.
The modern elegance continues as you step inside this 2,487 square foot walkout floor plan.
“An interesting feature in this house is there’s no casings around the windows. It’s a more contemporary style. These are called drywall returns,” says D&S Homes’ Troy Slater.
The result is a clean look without any extra lines.
The kitchen will capture the imagination of most home chefs with an oversized island, built-in wine fridge and gas stove. As well, the bright white quartz countertops and white upper cabinets create a magazine-cover worthy kitchen.
Grey lower cabinets complete the on-trend look. To keep the tiled backsplash neat and uncluttered, plug ins and light switches are mounted in the bottom of the cabinets.
The dream kitchen extends into the walk-through pantry where the builder has given some well-thought-out design touches, such as sloped shelves for storing cans (ensuring the cans roll to the front).
The west facing, partially covered deck will provide visual access to some spectacular prairie sunsets. It’s accessible through large garden doors off the dining room.
A $1 million show home has to boast a truly spectacular retreat and the master ensuite at 140 Greenbryre is no exception.
A stand-alone tub will soak away any worries. There’s also a customtiled shower with a glass enclosure.
A simple touch of a button controls the in-floor heating, while a remote controller can adjust the mood lighting under the large his and hers vanity. Brushed brass and silver light fixtures give both the ensuite and master bedroom unique appeal.
The walk-in closet features overhead lighting and custom shelving to keep everything organized.
“It’s nice with those design lights along the front of the closet. Then you can see everything,” said Slater.
There are two other bedrooms with walk-in closets upstairs, plus a bonus room with a notable sevenfoot long electric plasma fireplace.
A laundry room upstairs is conveniently appointed with a sink, storage cabinetry, hanging bar and a quartz counter.
The show home at 140 Greenbryre Lane by D&S Homes is listed at $1,099,000. Visit Monday to Thursday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
