Huskies sweep Vikes on the road
U of S women stay undefeated
Sabine Dukate had back-to-back 21-point games over the weekend, leading the University of Saskatchewan Huskies women’s basketball team to a pair of road wins against the University of Victoria Vikes (4-4).
The victories — 89-79 on Friday and 96-63 on Saturday — improve the Huskies to a 6-0 record, placing them second overall in the Canada West standings. Sitting atop the standings are the 8-0 University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.
Meanwhile, the Saskatchewan men’s basketball team (2-4) dropped both of their games to the host Vikes (5-3) on the weekend, losing 87-77 on Friday and 83-76 on Saturday. Lawrence Moore led the team in points on both nights, recording 28 on Friday and adding another 21 on Saturday.
VOLLEYBALL
The University of Calgary Dinos played host to Saskatchewan’s men’s and women’s teams, but sent them both home with double losses.
The women’s team (3-5) lost their two games 3-1 to the Canada West top-ranked Dinos (8-2), and the winless Huskies men’s team (0-8) fell 3-1 on Friday and 3-0 on Saturday.
HOCKEY
The Saskatchewan women’s four-game winning streak came to an end on the weekend following a trip to Edmonton and back-toback losses against the University of Alberta Pandas.
Kori Herner scored Saskatchewan’s lone goal in a 3-1 loss on Friday, while Emily Upgang recorded the Dogs only point in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat.
