Her voice trembling, a 16-year-old girl told a Saskatoon police officer about asking a man and his girlfriend to stop performing sex acts on her because it hurt.

In the video recorded interview, the girl, whose identity is protected by a publication ban, said she was drunk when the couple fondled her and the man “forced himself on her” while the woman held her down on a couch in the basement of the house where she lived.

The police interview, which happened five days after the alleged incident on June 20, 2015, was played for a jury in Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench on Tuesday. The man and woman are both charged with sexual assault.

The complainant said she drank alcohol with her uncle, another woman and the couple after the group returned home from a bar around 3 a.m.

She drank a small bottle of vodka and starting blacking out, the girl told Sgt. Chelsea Shepherd. She testified in court that she was mourning a friend’s death and it was her first time drinking alcohol.

The couple asked the girl to come to their place for more drinks after her uncle passed out, the jury heard.

The girl said her next memory was being dropped off at a gas station and getting into a van with the couple. She said she told them she had to go home and that the woman, who was driving, agreed.

As they pulled up to her home, she said the man reached across from the back seat, put his hand up her shirt and bra and fondled her breast.

“He said I was a very beautiful girl,” she told Shepherd.

After that, she knew something was going to happen, so she told the man she couldn’t do anything because she was menstruating, but the man said it “didn’t matter,” she said.

The complainant told Shepherd she blacked out and awoke on a couch in her basement to see the woman yanking her dress up. She said the woman then pulled her on top of her so that her face was in the woman’s breasts and her knees were on the floor.

She said the woman’s boyfriend simultaneously pulled off her pants and underwear, briefly performed oral sex and had sex with her from behind while the woman held her arms down.

“He put it in pretty fast and I remember screaming,” she said, telling Shepherd that she told the couple to stop at least twice.

The jury heard her uncle was unconscious on a bed just a few feet away at the time.

When Shepherd asked if the woman ever asked her to touch her, the girl said the woman asked for oral sex, but she refused.

On Tuesday, she testified that she briefly performed oral sex on the woman when the woman pushed her head down. She said she didn’t tell police about it because she was embarrassed.

During cross-examination, the girl told defence lawyer Jane Basinski that the woman initially climbed on top of her and made her suck on her nipples.

It was the first time she had divulged that information.

“You keep changing your story,” Basinski said. “How are we to believe you?”

The complainant said through tears that she didn’t provide some details due to shock, embarrassment or not being able to remember.

The trial is scheduled to resume on Wednesday.
