5 WAYS TO FILL YOUR WEEKEND

It might be cold and wintry, but let’s enjoy December because this month is gonna fly by. Here are a few things to help make the upcoming weekend fun:

-

1. Bright lights

If you’re out looking for light displays to brighten your night, drive to The Berry Barn and check out their fantastic festive display. It’s worth the drive down Valley Road. There is a $5 charge for adults and $15 for families.

2. Cheer on the Huskies

This is the last weekend of home action for some of the Huskie teams before finals and Christmas arrive. Check their website — huskies.usask.ca — to see who plays at home this weekend. After this weekend, there are no games until January.

3. Lots of laughs

The zany cast of the Saskatoon Soaps is back at it again tonight at the Broadway Theatre. Benefiting the local food bank, they promise “to be nuttier than a truckload of Ferrero Rocher.” Curtain goes up (or down) at 9:30 p.m.

4. Jewish exhibit

There is only a week left to take in the Canadian Jewish Experience travelling exhibit featured at the Western Development Museum. Billed as a tribute to Canada 150, it highlights many of the contributions Jewish people have made to Canadian society.

5. Holiday gift potential

Finally, the granddaddy of all arts and crafts shows is this weekend at SaskTel Centre. Every year, thousands of people gather at the Sundog Arts and Entertainment Faire to check out the cool stuff those crafty types can produce. It’s a great way to spend a few hours. It runs Friday until 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Postmedia News
