Olympic sports come and go. Skeleton did. Part of the 1928 and 1948 Games, it was discontinu­ed until 2002 and has been a mainstay since.

Canadians fell in love with skeleton overnight when three racers won medals in Turin 2006: Duff Gibson, gold; Jeff Pain, silver; and Mellisa Hollingswo­rth, bronze. Jon Montgomery won gold at the Vancouver 2010 Games.

Montgomery became a Canadian legend when he chugged a full pitcher of beer on live TV at Whistler Village.
