Liquor and cigarettes, delivered right to the doorstep.

That is, in a nutshell, the business model of Regina startup the Booze Crew, which hopes to begin deliveries mid-March.

While the service might keep the party rolling for some, owner Caitlin Christoph says she hopes it will keep them from getting behind the wheel.

“There’s a lot of drunk drivers around. It’s really close to heart,” she said. “I love my family and friends enough to be proactive.”

In addition, the single mother hopes she can turn a healthy profit. When a similar business recently shut down Regina operations, she says she saw it as a window of opportunity.

“We thought, OK there’s a need for it — to take on those customers who won’t be getting serviced anymore.”

Christoph’s application to SLGA for the licence to deliver such products is still pending. However, if it is approved, the Booze Crew plans to operate with three drivers.

Cash and card options are to be available for payment. Customers will need to show proof they are over 19 and sign a receipt, which the company will be obligated to keep in its files for SLGA inspection.

Business hours will be Monday to Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

On Fridays and Saturdays hours will be extended until midnight.

Customers wanting service after midnight will have to dial a different business. They should have options, according to SLGA, which says there are actually 10 companies with home delivery licences in Regina (38 in the province), not including the Booze Crew.
