Builder on a roll

North Ridge adds to accolades

- JEANNIE ARMSTRONG

North Ridge Development Corporation is on a winning streak in 2018, earning both local and national acclaim.

At the annual Bridges Awards, presented Feb. 10 by the Saskatoon & Region Home Builders’ Association, the North Ridge team won crystal statues in 11 different categories.

The most prestigious of these awards was Builder of the Year, which North Ridge won for an unprecedented third year in a row.

Errol Fisher, vice-president of operations with North Ridge, says the award reflects their company ’s constant efforts to “strive to be the best of the best.”

Fisher says, “Being recognized as the Builder of the Year with the Saskatoon & Region Home Builders’ Association for the third year in a row validates both our mission and vision statements. We are always changing the way we do things, looking for ways to improve our operations, end products and service to our customers.”

Fisher attributes North Ridge’s success to the exacting standards established by co-founder Wally Mah. “Our owner and president Wally Mah has instilled in all of us that quality, service and hard work are the keys to success. We have to work that much harder each and every year as there are a lot of great builders in Saskatoon and we always strive to be the best of the best. We are extremely proud of our North Ridge team in winning this award.”

North Ridge has also earned recognition as a finalist in the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) National Awards for Housing Excellence, which will be presented on March 23 in Victoria.

North Ridge’s bungalow townhome development located in Evergreen, The Pines, is up for a CHBA New Home Award in the Attached Homes (low-rise under 1,500 square feet) category.

The Pines is North Ridge Development’s first Energy Starcertified multi-family development. The project is composed of 60 bungalow-style townhomes, ranging in size from 1,142 to 1,232 square feet.

“It is especially rewarding to be recognized at the national level as a finalist for this project as one of the best in Canada,” says Fisher.

Green building technologies that set The Pines apart include the certified Energy Star-rated mechanical system, building envelope, on demand hot water, water-smart plumbing fixtures, LED lighting and a seven-layer sound barrier system.

The centrepiece of The Pines is an attractive water feature: a recirculating stream and pond.

A new show home has opened at The Pines, giving the public three different staged units to explore.

The show home at #56 – 103 Pohorecky Crescent is 1,142 square feet, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, main floor laundry and an attached two-car garage.

Marketing consultant Steve Little says that this floor plan is attractively priced, starting at $419,900.

“There’s so much value included at The Pines. Not only does the buyer benefit from living in an energy-efficient home with lower operating costs, the purchase price also includes air conditioning, your appliances, a maintenancefree deck with privacy panel and full landscaping including the paved driveway. And because it’s a condo development, you never have to worry about shovelling your driveway or cutting lawns.”

Unit 56 makes the most of its open concept layout, with a freeflowing great room designed for relaxed living. The chic kitchen stands out with crisp white Shaker-style cabinetry, quartz-topped counters and island, eye-catching tile backsplash and a corner walkin pantry.

Premium barnboard-style laminate flooring and luxury vinyl tile deliver both beauty and endurance throughout the main floor.

The generous master bedroom includes a custom-finished walkin closet and inviting ensuite bath.

The five-foot walk-in shower features a bench seat, promoting accessibility. Large windows invite an abundance of natural light into both bedrooms.

An option buyers can consider is having the basement of their bungalow professionally developed by North Ridge.

The lower level of this show home features a spacious family room, extra bathroom, a guest bedroom and a large utility room.

“Having sufficient storage space is very important to buyers,” says Little.

This nationally-acclaimed townhome development is now in its final selling phase, says Little. “People really like the bungalowstyle floor plans where they don’t have to worry about stairs, along with the energy efficient features.”

With most remaining units at The Pines, buyers can still make choices from six fashionable decor packages.

Viewing hours at #56 – 103 Pohorecky Crescent are Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.

The sales centre at The Pines, including show homes at units 2 and 4, is open Monday through Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., in addition to weekend viewing from 1 to 5 p.m.
