ROOM TO GROW
D&S Homes puts family at forefront in Brighton
Looking for a family home that has enough space for kids to grow and all the amenities for entertaining family and friends?
D&S Homes offers a 1,951-square-foot, family-friendly layout in Brighton. The latest show home, located at 347 Underhill Bend, showcases this popular floor plan. According to Troy Slater, in planning and development at D&S, the floor plan is similar to one they debuted in Brighton on Secord Way last year, but each time they build it, the plan gets tweaked a little.
“We’ve done two others like it in Brighton, but we keep switching it up a bit,” says Slater. “We have modified this one in that we put a bonus room upstairs.”
The bonus room is fast becoming a popular feature for families wanting a little more flexibility and space in their floor plan. The upstairs space can be used as an office or study area or as an extra media space, creating the perfect spot for family movie night.
“It’s nice because it’s an extra room when you don’t have your basement completed.”
“You can have people on the main floor if you’re entertaining and then your kids can be using the bonus room upstairs,” explains Slater.
The second floor also has a beautiful laundry room with direct access from the extra-large walk-in closet in the master bedroom. The master bedroom also boasts a custom shower in the ensuite.
The wide-plank, smoked oak, engineered hardwood flooring creates a warm and inviting space on the main level, punctuated by a natural gas fireplace in the living room. This focal point will draw in guests for a relaxing visit. The open floor plan ensures that the cook gets to visit as well.
The kitchen has a large, white, quartz-topped peninsula with eating area, perfect for kids to do homework. The white kitchen cabinetry has been extended into the dining room providing a custom built-in feel. The backsplash is a uniquely shaped white tile.
The mud room off the garage will also win points with families as there’s a spot that’s out of the way to organize and store boots, shoes, coats and other outdoor gear.
The exterior will be low-maintenance vinyl siding and stucco with stone accents. (Stucco to be completed.) The windows in the front door and garage door will make for striking curb appeal.
“It’s a great family home. It’s a good executive home if you want to utilize it that way, but I think it’s a good family home,” adds Slater.
This D&S show home at 347 Underhill Bend in Brighton is listed at $559,900 and is open for viewing Monday through Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 1 to 5 p.m.
