Broncos developing plan for ‘awe-inspiring’ donations
As the GoFundMe campaign for the Humboldt Broncos topped $11.5 million on Sunday, the team said it’s now working on a process for how it will distribute the money.
“In the coming weeks, we will make an announcement about the process to distribute the funds. Know that we’re working around the clock with our advisers to get the funds to our families as quickly as possible,” the organization said in a news release.
After the Humboldt Broncos’ team bus was involved in a horrific crash on April 6 — killing 16 people and injuring the 13 others on board — Humboldt resident Sylvie Kellington set up the GoFundMe page.
It has amassed the largest-ever number of contributions to a GoFundMe campaign in Canadian history.
The Broncos have thanked Kellington for setting up the campaign.
MLT Aikins LLP law firm will be working pro bono to help the Broncos “bring together the right teams of professionals” to work on distributing the money.
“The support and solidarity has truly been awe-inspiring,” the news release said.
