Plenty of options are available to keep ourselves occupied this weekend. Here are a few suggestions, should you need advice:
1 Shania concert
Canadian music icon Shania Twain returns to Saskatoon after many years in support of her Now tour. It’s taking her around the world to play 77 shows through the rest of the calendar year. She’ll be at SaskTel Centre Saturday night. The show starts at 7. If you have tickets, get there early to make sure you have enough time — a large crowd is expected.
2 Francophone film festival
Roxy Theatre is home to Cinergie, Saskatchewan’s francophone film festival. An assortment of shorts and films from around the world will be playing through Sunday at the Roxy. Check their website — cinergiesk.ca — for complete festival details.
3 Vesna Festival
Ukrainian culture will be on display Saturday night. The annual Vesna Festival will have Prairieland Park hopping. This is always one of the highlights for Ukrainians in Saskatoon, so don’t miss it this year. Doors open at 5 p.m.
4 Synchronized swimming
Fans of synchronized swimming will be in their glory this weekend; the Canadian Prairie Synchronized Swimming Championships are slated for the Shaw Centre all weekend. Watch some of our best athletes compete against clubs from around Canada and the United States in this friendly competition.
5 Science tours
Starting today and running until May 17, the Canadian Light Source celebrates NSERC’s Science Odyssey, highlighting science discovery and innovation across Canada with special evening and weekend tours.
