Sask.’s Islamic Association condemns Gaza violence
Saskatchewan’s Islamic community is voicing its opposition against what it calls an “ongoing massacre of Palestinian civilians” in Gaza.
The conflict between Palestinian demonstrators and the Israel Defence Force has resulted in thousands of civilian injuries and dozens of deaths. In a release issued Wednesday, the Islamic Association of Saskatchewan said it condemns the violence.
“We pray that God grants mercy to all those killed and injured and to their grieving families and loved ones,” it read. “The IAS calls on all people of good will, including our elected officials, to demand an end to Israeli violence on innocent civilians in Occupied Palestine, as well as Gaza, and for the perpetrators of these odious crimes to be held to account according to law.”
A fundraising event hosted by Islamic Relief Canada will take place in Saskatoon on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Saskatoon Inn.
