The May long weekend has finally arrived. For people with nothing to do, here are a few suggestions to consider:
1 CIRQUE IS BACK
Cirque du Soleil returns to Saskatoon — this time on ice — to present Crystal, a giant festival of fun. Be prepared for a sensory assault of colour and sound. The show runs through Sunday.
2 THEATRICAL TREAT
On the stage, Persephone Theatre’s Pride and Prejudice continues its run. The story never gets old and Persephone’s talented cast and crew have given the classic a wonderful treatment. If you haven’t seen it yet, make plans now.
3 BATTLE ARTS V
Fans of the squared circle will be excited to hear that former WWE superstar Cody Rhodes is in town Saturday night for Battle Arts V. The son of the legendary grappler Dusty Rhodes, Cody brings his grappling talents to the Sutherland Curling Club as part of the Wildside Wrestling event. The action starts at 8 p.m.
4 AIR GUITAR CONTEST
Here’s a fun idea. You can channel your inner Eddie Van Halen at The Roxy Theatre for the third annual Air Guitar Saskatchewan Championships on Saturday night, in support of children’s charity Creative Kids. The winner will receive an assortment of prizes, including a trip to the national championships in Toronto.
5 ZANY BORED GAMES
If you are looking for laughter to kick-start the long weekend, head to the Broadway Theatre tonight when the Saskatoon Soaps present Bored Games. The crazy, zany kookiness begins at 9:30 p.m.
