Massage therapist to be tried on sex charges

The Saskatoon man accused of sexually assaulting 11 women during massage therapy appointments has been committed to stand trial in Court of Queen’s Bench.

Mark Mcmahon Donlevy’s preliminary hearing concluded in Saskatoon provincial court on Thursday with a judge determining there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.

Donlevy faces 11 counts of sexual assault. The allegations stem from between 2003 and 2016.

In 2016, two women told police Donlevy had touched them inappropriately during separate appointments at his home in the 1200 block of Main Street East. Police charged him with two counts of sexual assault in November of that year.

After the charges were announced, nine more women, all former clients, came forward with allegations of sexual assault.

The evidence heard at Donlevy ’s preliminary hearing is subject to a publication ban.

It will likely take months before a trial date is set.

Donlevy also faces a separate trial on a single charge of sexual assault stemming from 2004. It is not connected to his work as a massage therapist.

The 49-year-old ran his business, MD Muscle Therapy, out of his home and was a registered massage therapist at the time of the alleged assaults.
