Gordon Tucker’s family members want to thank the community of Cochin for the support shown to them since the 59-year-old man’s death on May 31.

“All we would like to say is that he was a wonderful man,” his wife Kim said in an interview on Tuesday.

RCMP officers found Tucker dead at a rural property near Cochin and described his death as “suspicious.”

Days later, his son Joshua, 27, was charged with second-degree

murder and breach of probation in connection with his death. Joshua Tucker made his first court appearance in North Battleford provincial court on Monday morning. He is expected to make his next court appearance on June 11.

Kim Tucker issued a written statement on Tuesday on behalf of herself and her grandson, Trenton, thanking everyone who has shown concern and compassion at their time of “immense sorrow.”

The family wants anyone with information about the case to contact the RCMP. “Once again, thank you to all those who (have) given and continue to give us such love, support and well wishes,” the family said in the written statement.

Mable Elliott said she knew Gordon Tucker for about 32 years and has been a lifelong friend of Kim.

“Without a word of a lie, he is one of the kindest, most gentlest, compassionate, patient, easygoing people I think I’ve ever encountered,” she said, noting he was a farmer who raised grain and had a herd of cattle.

“He liked animals and he enjoyed people,” she said.

Elliot described Tucker as a man who was always himself and always seemed to be comfortable with who he was. He was a good man who adored his wife, she added.

“He will be missed. He is missed.”
