The neighbourhood of Brighton is about to launch its Phase 3 Parade of Homes today. The kick-off today will have a festival atmosphere with bouncy castles, entertainment, a magician, and a barbecue lunch. It’s a chance for everyone to come out and see what this new neighbourhood has to offer.

In just two years, this new development has gone from a few paved streets to a string of homes for almost 600 people.

Dream Development’s general manager of land Brad Zurevinski credits several things for the neighbourhood’s popularity.

First, there are a number of architectural styles that builders and homeowners can choose from including Arts and Crafts, Prairie, Tudor, Colonial, and Craftsman. Zurevinski said the goal was to keep the neighbourhood from being “cookie-cutter” and also to create the look and feel of a mature neighbourhood right off the bat.

The lack of trees and green spaces to enjoy can be one of the negatives of a new build. But Dream wanted Brighton to avoid those pitfalls.

“It was very important to us,” says Zurevinski.“I think that for some people living in a construction zone can be a bit of a drawback in a new neighbourhood.”

In addition to parks and play structures, there are plenty of trails ready for homeowners to enjoy.

Retail development is also in full swing in Brighton. Wilson’s Lifestyle Centre was already located in the neighbourhood, offering a garden centre, landscape and rental centre, not to mention gokarts, ropes course and a zip line. The Garden Centre also houses a gourmet food section, pet products and a Hillberg & Berk store.

Located beside Wilson’s, Landmark Cinemas opened earlier this month with seven screens featuring premium motorized recliners and reserved seating. Zurevinski says six more retailers will be added in the next year.

Nine premium builders are participating in the Brighton Parade of Homes. The kick-off party starts today at 11 a.m. and goes until 5 p.m.

The Brighton Parade of Homes will run for two years. Parade homes are open for viewing Monday through Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., and weekends and holidays from noon to 5 p.m.
