FUSION STYLE

Brighton home features variety of design influences, unique touches

The latest design trends are on parade in the new northeast neighbourhood of Brighton.

Presented by Dream Development, the Phase 3 Parade of Homes showcases nine different show homes by leading builders, conveniently clustered together on the 300-block of Dagnone Crescent.

Pure Developments is one of the nine home builders participating in the Brighton parade. Doug Elder, president of Pure Developments, says, “Brighton is a very desirable location. It’s backed by one of the most reputable developers in Western Canada. It’s an architecturally controlled neighbourhood with a builder group that displays really high standards. It was a great opportunity to be welcomed to the Brighton neighbourhood two and a half years ago by Dream and it’s been 90 per cent of our business ever since.”

Located at 322 Dagnone Crescent, Pure Development’s parade home is a 2,238-square-foot twostorey family-style home, reflecting a variety of design influences. The new model is aptly named The Fusion.

“It’s a collaboration of modern, Craftsman, cottage, farmhouse – all blended together in a fresh portrayal of what clients are looking for today,” says Elder.

The home’s striking exterior exemplifies Craftsman style. “We went with decorative Hardie board exterior siding. River rock accents the dark wood doors and the front pillars,” says Elder.

The parade home’s large foyer is instantly welcoming. An adjacent mudroom with custom lockers and a bench seat is a convenient dropzone that will keep clutter under control. The mudroom segues into a walk-through pantry, leading into the spectacular farmhouse kitchen.

The kitchen’s crisp white Shaker-style cabinets and marble-style quartz counters are highlighted by touches of wood and mixed metals.

The wood accents continue into the living room. “On the main floor, we went with a whitewashed pine ceiling and accent wall flanking the stone-trimmed fireplace. The fireplace features a distinctive wood mantel.”

The hand-scraped plank flooring that extends throughout the great room is hickory, in a rich dark tone.

The walls of the main floor powder

room, as well as a feature wall in the master bedroom, are finished in shiplap, reflecting touches of farmhouse style. “It was fun to use different finishes in different rooms throughout the home,” says Elder.

For the handsome railing leading to the home’s second level, the builder made a unique choice — poplar, with a stylish grey stain. That staircase is eight inches wider than the average staircase, emphasizing the home’s feeling of spaciousness.

As you proceed up the stairs, you’re greeted by the soothing sound of bubbles, emanating from the home’s built-in virtual aquarium by Dimplex. The virtual aquarium looks and sounds like the real thing, but is maintenancefree. This fun conversation piece leads into the second-floor bonus room, which is an ideal family relaxation zone.

The large master bedroom replicates the feeling of a boutique hotel suite, says Elder. “It has an enormous window overlooking the park, a vaulted ceiling with a wood beam accent, a shiplap headboard accent wall and behind that a unique open concept walkthrough closet. There are different hanging options, hidden drawer systems, shelves for displaying shoes, purses and jewelry. The idea is to personalize your closet and make it a decorative part of your room.”

During the Brighton Parade, the home’s garage has been transformed into a reception area and mini-design studio. “We’ve made it into an area where people can socialize and relax while touring the parade homes. We can also meet with clients and go through the wide variety of finishes, trims and décor options that we offer,” says Elder.

Pure Development’s parade home is open Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. To view by appointment, call 306-2812340 or visit www.purehomes.ca.
