First responders called to several collisions Monday

Monday morning ’s commute was busy for Saskatoon’s emergency responders.

City police responded to at least three collisions between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

In one instance, fire crews extracted a woman who was trapped inside an overturned vehicle, according to a news release from the fire department.

The extraction took place at 9 a.m. after a two-vehicle collision at the intersecti­on of Taylor Street East and Weyakwin Drive. A rescue unit and a fire engine were dispatched to the scene and when they arrived they found one of the vehicles involved in the collision had rolled over.

The city’s fire department indicated crews were able to stabilize the vehicle before gaining entry and removing the trapped occupant. She was taken out of the driver side and was not injured, the release stated. The driver of the second vehicle was also not injured.

Earlier in the day, three vehicles were involved in a crash near Circle Drive westbound and Attridge Drive. Police said injuries were minor.

Around 8:30 a.m., another motorist suffered minor injuries in a collision with a street light at the intersecti­on of College Drive and Hospital Drive.

Fire crews remained at the scene of the collision at Taylor Street East and Weyakwin Drive to clean up debris and leaked fluids.

Motorists are reminded to reduce their speed and drive with caution when passing emergency vehicles.
