BUBBLING FOR CANADA
You might say Kenley Holmes And her mom, Victoria Holmes, were Bubbling with enthusiasm during CANADA DAY events At Diefenbaker Park on Sunday.
Despite a rainy day, the Canada Day festivities in Diefenbaker Park continued on and brought many people, like Rann Luthra and his family.
Luthra was born in India, but his two daughters, Mahek and Harbreet, were born in Canada. His daughters were there to perform traditional dances, like Giddha, which is performed by the women, during the multicultural entertainment presented by the Saskatchewan Intercultural Association. The event featured dances from different cultures.
Luthra said although he was there to watch his daughters perform, one of the most important things about being there was to celebrate Canada Day.
“There’s lots of open minds and everybody ’s welcome here in Canada,” he said.
Syeda Shahzadi is from Pakistan, and was also there to watch the multicultural entertainment while celebrating Canada Day. She has been in Canada for around 20 years, and says she likes it here.
“Here (in Canada) is all around different culture, different community, different people, but all is well and everyone loves each other.
“Doesn’t matter what religion, what country, this is a very peaceful country. I like it,” she said.
Shahzadi is also hoping to sponsor the rest of her family, like her mother, her brother and her sister.
“I want more (of my family) to come to Canada because it’s very, very peaceful,” she said.
