Tochor is too busy trying for new job

-

Saskatoon Eastview constituents deserve a full-time MLA. They have not had one since 2016. Corey Tochor currently sits as the MLA for Saskatoon Eastview. But he aspires to be a federal MP for the Conservative Party; he has been selected by the Saskatoon University constituency to be their nominated candidate in the next federal election. Can he be both at the same time?

Constituents expect their elected representative to hold them as his primary interest. A secondary interest is not a benefit to the Saskatoon Eastview constituents.

Tochor’s Facebook profile states he was invited by the Saskatoon University federal constituency Conservative Party to represent them and to work for them, their concerns and dissatisfactions with the Liberals. So is he a Sask. Party MLA for Saskatoon Eastview or a federal Conservative?

He was not primarily available to Saskatoon Eastview from May 2016 to January 2018; during this time he was Speaker of the house in the Saskatchewan legislature — a position that required him to be non-partisan and unable to represent our concerns.

When does he plan to resign so that a full-time MLA can be elected? We should not need to tolerate this situation where our MLA is campaigning to represent another constituency, another party and another jurisdiction. E.H. Ritchie, Saskatoon
