Police charge 3 after foot chase
Saskatoon police say three people were taken into custody on Thursday evening after a traffic stop involving a stolen car.
Around 7:50 p.m., officers noted a stolen car from North Battleford in the 600 block of Idylwyld Drive North, according to a police news release.
When they tried to stop the car, the front passenger refused to comply and ran off.
The man fled through a home in the area while being pursued by police and was eventually located in a backyard in the 800 block of Idylwyld Drive North. Officers and the suspect engaged in a scuffle and the man eventually was taken into custody.
The suspect had sustained injuries to his arm and leg as a result of the chase; they were not considered life-threatening. Police said the suspect indicated the injuries occurred when he tried to jump over a barbed-wire fence.
He was taken into custody and treated in hospital for his injuries. The male driver of the vehicle and a second passenger, a woman, also were taken into custody.
The 34-year-old man who fled police is charged with breaking and entering, possession of stolen property and obstruction.
The 24-year-old female passenger and 20-year-old male driver are charged with possession of stolen property.
All three were expected to appear on Friday before a justice of the peace.
