Woman charged with skipping out on bar tabs and driving impaired

-

A 35-year-old Prince Albert woman faces a host of charges after she allegedly drove drunk around Saskatoon in a Mercedes on Wednesday, skipped out on bar tabs, losing her shoes and purse in the process, before crashing the vehicle.

Saskatoon police say no one was injured in any of the incidents, which police traced back to a call from an establishment in the 1800 block of Broadway Avenue before 4:30 p.m. Police received a report that a woman left the business without paying a “rather hefty” bar tab, but left her purse and identification behind, police said in a media release.

The forgotten ID gave them some indication who she was, police said.

A little over an hour later, they received another call from a business, this time in the 3000 block of Diefenbaker Drive. Police received a report that a woman left without paying her bar tab, but this time left her shoes behind.

The woman was last seen driving a black Mercedes eastbound on Diefenbaker Drive, police said in the release.

Police received another report just before 5:40 p.m., about a collision at 11th Street West and Circle Drive. The caller told police the Mercedes ran into a truck and left the scene, heading east on 11th Street.

When police went to the area, a patrol unit found a black Mercedes that had struck a fence at 11th Street and Avenue W with a woman standing next to it. The woman was not wearing shoes, police said.

She was taken into custody at the scene.

The woman faces charges including impaired driving, driving while prohibited, and what police described as “dine and dash” related charges.
