‘Functional and fashionable’

Genelle and Paul Hamoline are bucking the downsizing trend in the Saskatoon housing market.

The Hamolines are the secondgeneration owners of Executive Home Builders, a residential construction company with a 42-year history in Saskatoon. Leading the company into a new era of growth, the couple is focusing on designing and building large-scale homes that offer families plenty of room togrow.

“We build four to five homes a year. Because the homes we build are larger in scale, they take more time. Paul and I are hands-on builders, and customer service is a big part of our business. We want to make sure that we’re big enough to be building houses all the time, but not too big that we’re unable to maintain that high level of customer service we’re known for,” says Genelle.

Executive Home Builders’ new show home, located at 226 Greyeyes- Steele Way in The Meadows, is a spacious 2,387-square-foot two-storey with lots of familyfriendly features. The show home offers a total of five bedrooms, in- cluding two in the fully developed basement.

The Hamolines draw on their own life experiences as busy parents to ensure their homes are as functional as they are fashionable. This is especially evident in the gorgeous kitchen of this show home.

“The kitchen has double sinks, including the island’s prep sink. In my own kitchen, I like to have a prep area, close to the range, that’s separate from the cleaning area. I use my prep sink all the time when I’m cooking,” Genelle says.

The island is square-shaped, topped with quartz and surrounded by rich walnut. The use of walnut brings warmth to the kitchen’s crisp white-and-grey colour palette, as does the natural oak, engineered hardwood floor by Dansk.

An intricate mosaic of white, grey and mother-of-pearl geometric tiles create a stunning backsplash, the perfect complement to the sleek white cabinetry and grey quartz counters. Unique lighting selections, including the concrete and oak pendant lights over the island, and the black and rubbed bronze chandelier in the dining alcove, further elevate the kitchen’s style.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a convenient butler’s pantry and mud room, with an abundance of storage. The mud room offers direct access to the home’s attached triple-car garage.

An inviting living room and a sun-filled dining alcove are welldefined spaces, while being fully open to the kitchen. Large windows brighten the space and capture views of the adjacent future park.

A focal point in the living room is the linear natural gas fireplace, which features an artistic concrete-style Venetian plaster surround, crafted by Scott Montgomery of Drywall by Design.

The home’s second floor offers three bedrooms, including two large children’s rooms with custom closets. The children’s bedrooms are adjacent to a four-piece bath, which features a separate room for the tub and toilet.

“One child can be showering in private, while the other is getting ready at the vanity. It’s another way our designs meet the needs of busy families,” says Genelle.

The second floor laundry room, with cabinets and counters lining two walls, is strategically located adjacent to the bedrooms.

The master suite has all the creature comforts, including a large walk-in closet and a supersized ensuite. Of note in the ensuite is the use of luxury, waterproof, woodgrain vinyl planks on the walls behind the double sink vanity, the sculpted Maax Optik soaker tub and inside the walk-in shower. The tub rests on an inlay of river rock. The combination of neutral tones, stone and wood accents epitomize the Danish hygge trend.

Executive Home Builders fully developed the home’s basement to maximize living space, adding a large family room, two additional bedrooms and a four-piece bathroom. Nine-foot ceilings and oversized windows enhance the bright, spacious feel of the home’s lower level.

Executive Home Builders will hold an open house this weekend at its show home at 226 GreyeyesSteele Way, Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. To view by appointment, contact real-estate agent Gregg Bamford at 306-2809361.
