Re: John Gormley, “We’re losing Potashcorp’s head office without a fight” (SP, Oct. 12)

Nutrien’s engagement with and contribution to Saskatchewan are steadfast and significant. While there have been changes to our executive leadership team, we have more employees in Saskatchewan today than prior to the merger.

Nutrien’s corporate office in Saskatoon currently has 335 positions, almost 30 per cent more than Potashcorp had prior to the merger. All vital corporate functions, including finance, information technology, sustainability and human resources, have large teams in the Saskatoon corporate office — along with our potash and sales functions. We also transferred our Canadian retail head office from Alberta to Regina after the merger closed.

In June, we announced that Nutrien will be the anchor tenant for the new Nutrien Tower at River Landing, with an expected completion date of late 2021 or early 2022, as we are rapidly outgrowing our existing space.

Nutrien is a major contributor to the entire Saskatchewan economy. We are the largest private-sector employer with over 4,000 employees at six potash mines, more than 120 retail locations and corporate offices. We’re also an active participant in the province’s culture and communities — we’ve donated more than $4.5 million to about 200 different organizations in the province so far this year.

Nutrien is a new company, with over 20,000 employees spread across 14 countries, and we will continue to grow and innovate. We are one of Canada’s largest companies, and will be a Canadian champion and a leader in the global agri-food industry.

We are proud of our Saskatchewan roots and while that will never change, Nutrien has its sights set firmly on the future. That is the only way we will succeed. Jeff Holzman,

Senior director, Investor & Corporate Relations, Nutrien
