4 Nations Cup comes to Saskatoon

-

The 4 Nations Cup is almost here, Saskatoon! USA, Canada, Sweden and Finland will compete in the five-day tournament that runs Nov. 6 to 10, but the Nov. 7 game when Canada and USA meet is the one everyone is most looking forward to.

Colleen Sostorics was on the ice when Canada played the United States in Saskatoon back in 2005 as a tune-up to the 2006 Winter Olympics and had these comments about Canada’s current National team which includes Saskatoon’s own Emily Clarke: “We’re going to have the rare opportunity to witness the speed and skill that is today’s game.

“Anytime Canada gets to play the USA, you know it’s going to be a great game,” Sostorics says. “That’s the game you live for, that’s the game you train all those hours for, that’s why you get up in the morning and put on your skates.” The Canadians are looking to capture gold after a heart-breaking loss to the Americans for Olympic Gold in Pyeongchang in February.

With a little more than two weeks until the top four international women’s hockey teams descend upon SaskTel Centre, organizers have announced that tickets for all games, including the Canada vs. USA Olympic gold medal rematch on Wednesday., Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. and the Bronze and Gold Medal games on Saturday, Nov. 10 will be available. Prices start at $10.50 (plus fees) for non-Canada games, $23.50 for Canada-games, and medal round games starting at $14.00 (plus fees).

“It’s a special experience to be able to play on home soil,” says Gina Kingsbury, Hockey Canada’s director of national women’s teams, and two time Olympic gold medalist for Canada. “The fan support brings another level of play to your game, and it’s a feeling that as a player you just can’t describe. Saskatoon is a hockey city, and we’re looking forward to seeing the crowds in November.”
