Noise pollution can cause hearing loss

-

Re: Noise pollution not to be taken lightly (SP, Sept. 27)

Not only is noise pollution irritating, it can also be dangerous.

A number of years ago a large motorcycle with straight pipes went by my vehicle in hard acceleration and gave me a fivesecond blast of 140+ decibels. This unfortunately left me with permanent hearing loss.

Unfortunately there was no insurance coverage for this either, as the “SGI expert” who reviewed the case thought I should have pursued the offending motorcycle and obtained a plate number. Yeah, right — a real sharpie. Marvin Taylor, Regina
