The University of Saskatchewan men’s and women’s wrestling teams are ranked as the No. 2 programs in the nation, according to the first U Sports Top 10 poll of the season, with both teams trailing the No. 1 University of Alberta.

On the men’s side, the Huskies earned 49 points in the poll, as opposed to Alberta’s 69, while the women trail Alberta by only four points, earning 32 to Alberta’s 36.

In hockey, both teams remained in the same places they held last week, with the men’s team (7-1-0) holding the No. 2 spot with 243 points and the women (4-2-2-0) sitting ninth with eight points.

On the basketball court, the Saskatchewan men’s team (3-1) jumped one place to sit eighth, earning 143 points, and the women’s team (3-1) stayed in the fifth spot with 368 points.

Meanwhile, after not earning a top 10 ranking in last week’s volleyball poll, the Saskatchewan men’s team moved into the ninth spot this week, earning a +0.69 score on the volleyball ranking system.

The Huskies football team also jumped one spot to sixth from seventh, earning 111 points, following their Canada West semifinal victory on the weekend. Saskatchewan will take on the No. 3-ranked University of Calgary Dinos in the Hardy Cup final on Saturday.
