Riverdale star rocks out with Saskatoon band

-

A Saskatoon band is soaking up the spotlight in a big way after the star of the popular Netflix series Riverdale joined them on stage for a jam.

The Steadies, a rock trio from Saskatoon, shared several videos on their Facebook page on Dec. 17 of the performance with KJ Apa, who plays Archie on the series, during a concert at Vancouver’s Guilt & Company.

“What an incredible night capped off by KJ Apa from Riverdale rippin it up on guitar with us,” the band posted on Facebook. “Thinking about changing our name to Archie & The Steadies whaddya think? hahaha. Thanks to everyone who came out and packed the house @guiltandco We (heart) U Vancity.”

The Riverdale star himself seemed to have enjoyed the performance, taking to Instagram to say he’d like to perform with the band again.

“Funky as fuuuuu. Let’s do that again please lads x,” the red-headed star said in the post, which also included a video of the performance.

Made up of Earl Pereira on vocals and bass, Jesse James Clark on guitar and Kurtis Schultz on drums, the video shared on Apa’s page has been viewed on Instagram more than a million times.

The performance has also captured the attention of celebrity news site TMZ, which has reportedly reached out to the band and reported on the performance after the clip went viral.

“Holy jeez is this really happening,” the Steadies asked in a Facebook post.

It appears the Steadies would be up for another duet with the Riverdale star: a post sharing the story from TMZ said the band is “stoked for next time.”
