5 WAYS TO FILL YOUR WEEKEND
Resolved to get out more this year? Here are a few ideas to help this weekend:

— Toys and collectibles
There’s a kid in all of us, so you might enjoy the 31st annual farm toy and collectible show at the German Cultural Centre. It runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. You’ll never know what treasure you might find there.

— Hockey excitement
The U of S Huskies hockey team returns to action Saturday night at Merlis Belsher Place on the university campus. It’s the first home game of the year for the Huskies, who will battle their provincial rivals, the Regina Cougars. The puck drops at 7 p.m.

— Sounds of Motown
Fans of Motown will be excited to see the Legends of Motown, which performs Saturday night at TCU Place. The 16-person cast of performers, dressed in colourful clothing from that era, will play a selection of hits from such Motown artists as The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and others. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

— Catch some tunes Saskatchewan singer-songwriter Megan Nash performs Friday night at The Bassment. The twotime WCMA nominee hits the stage at 9 p.m.

— Ukrainian new year
Finally, our Ukrainian friends and neighbours are celebrating their New Year this weekend with a list of events in the area. One of those is Saturday night at Dakota Dunes Casino with the Malanka — Ukrainian New Year Celebration, complete with authentic Ukrainian food and entertainment from the Yevshan Ukrainian Folk Ballet Ensemble and Ukrainian Zabava band UB. The dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and entertainment starts at 8 p.m.
